The University of Birmingham is looking for parents of secondary school children to join their Parent Advisory Group from Jul 22 – Oct 23. Meetings are online and group members will be paid £25 per hour plus expenses. No experience necessary. Interested? Computer Science STEM Trip!

#Computer Science STEM trip As part of our Computer Science curriculum and commitment to providing children enriching experiences, we have arranged for 12 pupils to visit Gateway College for a More Able Technology and Science STEM Day.  We feel this will encourage the pupils to study STEM subjects at college and university.  The trip has been arranged for Wednesday 29th June 2022. The day will give them an insight into STEM at higher level. Activities will include: Robotics – They will build and program a robot to navigate a series of obstacles E-FIT – They will use police software to create an image of a ‘criminal’ Vehicle – They will design, build and then race a simple electric vehicle Medical Diagnostics – They will be tasked with diagnosing a ‘patient’ and test for diabetes.   This event is part of a wider national competition, in which the overall winning team…

Free training for parents and carers – The AIM Group

A huge well done to staff and parents who actively accessed the Aim Group course, we had 50 people sign up and were the second highest in the Trust for engagement.  Well done to everyone. May Half Term Food Provision for vulnerable families

May half term In partnership with Samworth Brothers, Leicester City are offering the pop up pantry scheme at 5 venues across the city, starting on 26 – 29 May 2022.  This will give parents the opportunity to choose food for their children for the half-term.  This offer has limited space and therefore parents are required to register in advance. Amended timings for behaviour system

  We are making some changes to the timings of our Internal Exclusion and C3/Removal room. From week commencing 2nd May, the timings will change to: Internal Exclusion: 10 am to 4 pm C3/Removal Room: 8.30 am to 3.30 pm   This is to improve the effectiveness of both systems.    

Public consultation for proposed Scraptoft Lane zebra crossing

Leicester City Council are proposing to install a zebra crossing on Scraptoft Lane. This is likely to be of benefit to some of Orchard Mead students who walk to school.   We would like to know what people think about the proposed crossing and so a public consultation starts on Thursday 28th April 2022 until Monday 23rd May 2022.   The consultation can be completed online at https://consultations.leicester.gov.uk/transport/scraptoft-lane   Details of the scheme can be found on the consultation site.   If you can find the time to complete the consultation, we would be very grateful.
