The Growth department is a new faculty created to deliver the PSHE, RE and Citizenship provision at Orchard Mead through Growth lessons. The intent is to produce an engaging and exciting curriculum that teaches students the values of the Orchard Oath (Be kind, Work hard, Be responsible) covering thought provoking issues and providing opportunity for students to participate in moral and philosophical debates that will facilitate students to develop their own moral code. We intend for students to be tolerant and respectful of other cultures, religions and communities, become healthy, independent and responsible members of society who understand the wider world, their role within it and be empowered to make a positive difference within all levels of society. We aim for the curriculum to be responsive to events/ issues within the local community and to provide real life assessment opportunities. As part of the Growth curriculum at Key Stage 4, we offer Citizenship GCSE, Child Development Cambridge National and are EDUQAS GCSE in Religious and Philosophical Studies
